Among the vineyards of Irpinia, that takes name from the latin hirpus (wolf), a young girl wandered long ago. Aras was her name, a lover of the wonderful bunches of grapes. Her father, a farmer from Irpinia, had called her so thinking of the ara, the unit of measure of agricultural areas, where the girl was born 25 years earlier, from the great love with his wife, in the same year in which the vineyards were planted. Aras’s desire to live in the nature led her to explore those wonderful places as a child, even at night when the sun went down and only the stars illuminated the landscapes. One autumn night, the young girl saw a shadow, while savouring the sublime nectar, and ran away frightened. The following evening, intrigued and provided with a candle, she went to the same vineyards. That was when she saw an animal, a wolf, doing what she enjoyed doing either: eating grapes in secret. For evenings the two met in that place, in the green irpinia, and in those nights the affections increased. That kept going on for years, in autumn, aras and hirpus, did never miss their appointment. One day she grew up and her meetings with hirpus ended. Her faithful friend never returned to that vineyard the following autumns. But her love for the land, for the grapes, for that vineyard, always reminded her of their friendship, enclosed today in the bottle of Cinque Lustri.
